CENTRAL Sugar Refinery Sdn Bhd (CSR) has unveiled its latest high-quality product called Better White Clear White Sugar.
With the new product introduced to the market, this will strengthen CSR’s position as Malaysia’s sugar specialist.
CEO Mohamad Zuki Wan Abdullah said Better White Clear White Sugar’s enhanced appearance will sustain the quality and taste preference of Malaysians.
“Following the success of CSR’s Better Brown, Better White is another commitment from CSR in meeting our rising consumer expectations, serving the market with better quality and fair pricing sugar products.
“We have gone the extra mile to ensure that our customers can enjoy a superior sugar product that complements the taste of their food and drinks, as well as their culinary experiences,” he said.
CSR previously introduced its Better Brown variation in 2018 to promote healthier sugar consumption in Malaysia. The product has proven successful in Malaysia and Singapore.
In 2020, the country’s leading sugar manufacturer dominated 78% of the brown sugar segment in Malaysia, with Better Brown achieving 33% retail market share.
Better White is now available to consumers nationwide at RM3.85 for an 800g pack (West Malaysia) and RM4.05 (East Malaysia).
Extensive refining processes have resulted in a purer and visually more delightful sugar that produces whiter and better-looking bakery products that would appeal more to consumers.
The sugar retail market has taken a step towards liberalisation after the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) allowed the sale of non-price controlled sugar, announced in May this year.
Then Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, said this type of sugar is aimed at the premium market, sold as Refined White Sugar Jernih (also known as pure refined white sugar), and is not subjected to price controls, unlike conventional granulated sugar. — TMR
